We have introduced a line of 100% bio-degradable, compostable packaging which we can substitute for traditional plastic packaging, that comes standard with all of our teas & herbs - and we'll even pay you to make the eco switch. Our bio-bags are lined with a thin foil barrier, which is great for keeping your products fresh and secure. Here's the catch: they are not re-sealable. You can use a chip clip to keep the bag closed and that will work for a short period of time, but it is recommended that you transfer your teas, herbs and other basictea.com goodies to an airtight container, such as a spice jar, mason jar, tin... whatever you may already have in your kitchen. Our bio-bags are manufactured from sustainable tree pulp right here in the USA. It is a terrific product, but relatively expensive to manufacture, when compared to petroleum based plastic bags. We feel that the added costs associated with cutting down on plastic usage is well worth it. In fact, we are willing to offer our customers a discount of .25 cents per tea ordered with the bio-bag.
